A leaking shower head is one major problem that can lead you to higher water bills. This annoying condition is also affecting your stream power; make the shower pressure is unstable to get you clean as the excess water spraying is not focused on the right place and certainly will waste your precious water down the drain.
Shower head are used to disperses water and provides an even flow under of the apparatus at the end of a water source. Mostly the shower head is easy to install because mostly plumbing manufacturers comply it with a standard fitting which interchangeable. That is why a leaking shower head is easy to removed and fixed, or you can even replace the shower head with a new one depend on your choice.
Fixing the leaking is harder and requires hard-working than replace it, but it is a lot cheaper than buying the new one. If you have make up your mind to repair your shower head, you will need to prepare some utility; Teflon tape, wrench, and gasket. The hardest and exhausting part of fixing the shower head is to unscrew the showerhead. This requires you to have more strength to loosen up the joint between the shower head and the neck. Second, steps are removing the rubber gasket inside the shower head to inspect.
The gasket is black rubber ring that used to protect the water from flowing from gap between the joint and the arm, and helps to regulate the flow of water. Mostly leaking happen because the gasket is loosen, if that so, just buy the new one that match the old ring size. Third, is carefully placing the gasket into its place to prevent the water from leaking. Lastly, wrap the Teflon tape around the pipe threads (around the arm) and tighten up the shower head back into place, turning until the head was hand-tight. There your leaking shower head is fixed.
